Dr. Frank Martela, Ph.D., is a rare expert of both the philosophy and psychology of meaning in life, with publications in key journals in both fields (e.g. Southern Journal of Philosophy and Journal of Positive Psychology). Currently a post-doctoral researcher at Aalto University, Finland, he has been a visiting scholar at University of Rochester, NY., and Australian Catholic University. He has published in journals like Journal of Personality and Metaphilosophy, and given invited lectures at universities such as Stanford University, University of Edinburg, and Simon Fraser University. Besides his academic activities, he has written for Scientific American Mind and Salon, his work has been featured in Quartz, and BBC, and he has been interviewed for New York Times, Vice News, and Monocle Observer. His book Meaning of your life explained will be published by Harper Design in 2020. Recently he has been investigating who coined the phrase ’meaning of life’ in the English language.
